How will you represent?

Dear Friends-
Today, I had the opportunity to attend the homegoing service for Walter McSwain Jr., a lovely gentleman who served the Lord with all His heart and mind. During the beautiful Mass, the Monsignor spoke about (Uncle) Walter with such warmth and personal knowledge about him, it offered a great deal of comfort to those who came to mourn. He said that Uncle Walter (whom I refer to as Uncle out of respect and closeness to his family) "was a man who represented God's strength and faithfulness". I was so touched by that statement because it came from a man dedicated his own life to God and serves as an example to so many of his parishoners.

It made me think of my own life and what others would say about me at my funeral.

Dear Friends, today's message is simple. Our purpose in life is to use our gifts and talents to represent the Lord and bring Him glory. Uncle Walter, though blind, had the gift of vision and intution. He could see into a person's spirit and bring a positive word to lift them up. He is reaping his reward in heaven because he fulfilled God's ultimate purpose for his life and represented him well.
How will you represent the Lord? What will be said about you in your last days?

12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
